Saving Face
I recently was playing with a bunch of scoping effects and have several interesting images lined up to work on. This was one of the first I finished.

In The Window (sketch)
Here's a sketch I rendered of In The Window ... I really like some things about the original photo that my wife took so I guess I might do a series of 'takes' on it.

In the Window
Here is a sketched piece from a picture that was taken of me looking out the window. Frame needs to be vertical instead of landscape and I want to play with some other things with this but for now it's the working template.

A Self Portrait
This is Me. What better way to start off the blog than with a self portrait. Most of my pieces will be digital art, at least for a while, since my access to REAL art materials is limited. I do have a sketchpad with a collection of graphite pencils but my scanner sucks so I don't even plan on bothering with it for now.
Programs I am starting with:
Pixelmator, Image Tricks, SketchBook Pro and ImageFramer.
Since I have ZERO background in anything related to this area of 'art', I can't really explain any techniques I use. I suppose that's something I'll get better with over time. Sometimes I will start with a picture and other times I will start from a sketch of some sort. I spend quite a while fussing with different effects, brushtrokes, textures and colors until it just feels 'right' to me.
I have noticed that right off the bat I seem to have a fascination with blending and smearing colors together. I could probably do it for hours (if I didn't have other things to do!). So at least for the time being, I think that may be a recurring theme I explore as I learn.
